Built on land donated by Land Management Corporation, the 2010 Channel 9 Telethon Distinctive Home and Land Lottery home is on display at Playford Alive in Munno Para West.
Covering an area equivalent to 500 football ovals the development will provide accommodation in new and refurbished homes and retirement living. Along with shops, cafes, health and other community facilities, Playford Alive offers the ideal lifestyle for people of all ages.
In line with Northern Adelaide’s international reputation for sustainable water and energy use the new development has been designed with a strong focus on the environment.
To gain optimal energy efficiency the tree lined streets have been built in a grid pattern aligned to the north. And street plantings, parks and reserves will be irrigated with recycled storm water captured in urban wetlands. Cleansed storm water is also being connected to all new homes for toilet flushing and garden upkeep.
Parks, wetlands, reserves, sporting fields and playgrounds connected by kilometres of bike and walking trails also cater for everyone’s fitness and relaxation tastes - be it a quiet stroll taking in nature; training for the Tour Down Under; or a friendly game of cricket.
For those who prefer relaxing with a little ‘retail therapy’ Munno Para Shopping Centre and Elizabeth City Centre are within easy reach. Or a cup of coffee closer to home is available at neighbourhood hubs dotted through the community. A new town centre is also planned to “create a vibrant heart” for the development.
In addition to existing schools and adult learning institutions two new schools being built by the South Australian government will offer over 2,000 places, with priority for Playford Alive residents.
Public and community transport routes linked to train stations and Main North Road with freeway conditions providing easy access to the city complete the picture for a perfect lifestyle.
The Channel 9 Telethon Lottery Home is open for inspection 1 - 5pm daily from 18 July up to and including 28 November at 9 Freeman Avenue, Munno Para West (follow the signs from the corner of Main North and Curtis Roads to Coventry Road).
