Melbourne Cup Lunch
2009
Beautiful birthday cakes were the feature of each table at the 2009 Melbourne Cup Lunch. Designed and made by Small Indulgences the cakes set the scene for a day of celebration to mark Channel 9 Telethon’s 50th year of supporting South Australian charities.
Sponsored by Tindall Gask Bentley the ‘party’ got underway with the popping of Yalumba Sparkling Wine corks and guests being welcomed to the Stamford Grand Ballroom by Tony Pilkington.

Brenton Ragless, Kate Collins, Rob Kelvin, Lisa McAskill and stars from “The Apprentice”, Amy Cato and Sam Hooper, joined Tony throughout the day and introduced the program, which included a parade of stunning hats from Adelaide Hatters and fabulous fashions from elenca, mai-loui, Showies and Peter Shearer Menswear.
And with four glamorous ladies receiving prizes from Small Indulgences, Adelaide Hatters, Stamford Grand and Yalumba for their choice of hats and other guests winning some great items in the Silent Auction, the winners were not just those who picked the right horses.
Proceeds from the day supported Arthritis SA; CARA; HeartKids SA; Huntington’s Disease; Motor Neurone Disease and PARAQUAD SA.
