  Channel 9 Telethon endorses the ethical fundraising practices of Charity Direct. On air promotion is provided as a community service and the Charity Direct logo is incorporated in all Channel 9 Telethon fundraising project material.

Why is there a need for Charity Direct?
Charity Direct is an incorporated association of members made up of Charities and not-for-profit organisation. Originally formed by four major Charitable organisations - which had become concerned about the entry of commercial operators with paid collectors whose activities were not controlled by the Charities they represented - today Charity Direct has approximately 60 members.

What are the objectives of Charity Direct?

  • To disseminate the principals of ethical and responsible fundraising
  • To offer advice to interested parties and, in particular, to government, on matters relating to fundraising and fundraising conduct
  • To monitor community fundraising practises and to take action, when appropriate, to oppose and eliminate practices which are detrimental to the image of philanthropy
  • To assist professional bodies concerned with community fundraising issues

Who is eligible for membership?
Any registered Charity or Not for Profit Organisation subscribing to, and operating within, the ethical guidelines determined by Charity Direct Inc.
