United Way - SA
United Way South Australia helps improve the literacy of young South Australian children, so their future is full of opportunity.
United Way Australia hold the licence to operate The Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Australia, which has been in operation for over 25 years across the globe.
The Imagination Library is an early literacy program that provides the gift of a monthly book pack to children aged birth to 5 years old. Each book pack contains a new, quality, age-appropriate book with reading aids/tools for parents/carers to help engage their child with reading. The pack is sent to the home, addressed to the child, every month. The books are carefully selected each year by a panel of experienced early childhood to ensure maximum results.
United Way South Australia also provide regular free reading sessions for the community to attend through Possum’s Playhouse. Children attending have the opportunity to listen to books being read and fun craft activities to engage and create the love of reading and story-telling.
