Puddle Jumpers Inc
Puddle Jumpers Inc (PJs) is a non-profit, non-government organisation committed to responding to the social development needs of society’s most vulnerable children and young people. Priority of our work is reserved for children who do not live with their birth parents. We believe all kids matter, and deserve the right to engage in happy and fun experiences in their life. We aim to equip young people with the skills to more actively engage in the community in an ongoing social activity (such as a sport, youth, church, volunteering or other activity). One of our major programs are our Camps and Day Activities for children and families. These programs provide much needed respite and the opportunity for young people to take the opportunity to jump in puddles. Puddle Jumpers works with some of the most vulnerable children in South Australia. These children and young people are socially isolated or at risk with all the future social implications of such disadvantage, and these camps and other activities provide an environment in which they can develop necessary social skills and resilience. Puddle Jumpers, with its mentoring programs available for those participants for whom further assistance is required, fulfils uniquely the special needs of such children and young people.
We also run our Community Food Nights every Monday night (including Public Holidays) from 5pm to 7pm with one session from 5pm to 6pm and a second session from 6pm to 7pm. In the backyard of our premises at Glandore, we offer market style collect your own free food, where a thank you can be shown through a donation of a pantry item or 2, or plastic bags. Throughout the night we also provide free tea and coffee to anyone that comes through, along with a home-cooked meal for people to enjoy while they pick up their goods. Usually, we have fruit, vegetables, bread, milk and toiletries for anyone needing them. On occasion, depending on what is donated, we are also able to offer free toys, books, homewares, clothes at the same time.
